School Group visit to Hanmer Springs

Are you planning a school camp to Hanmer Springs? If so, we can offer you a unique and exciting educational activity for your school camp.

We have two options available:

Option 1 - Animal Talk:

This activity can take 2-3 hours, and includes a 45 minute informative and amusing walk around the Park introducing each type of animal.
The students will learn interesting facts about the different species. The second hour the students are free to wander, interact and feed the animals.

Animal Talk - $7 per person (minimum base fee $175) includes bag of animal feed.

Option 2 - Farm Show:

This 2-3 hour activity includes a 1 hour informative and amusing Farm Show.
The students will learn interesting facts about different farm animals and see a variety of demonstrations such as shearing in season; stock whips; dog trial etc). The students are then free to wander, interact and feed the animals.

Farm Show - $10 per person (minimum base fee $250) includes bag of animal feed

Information Collecting Sheets for students are available - we can provide one of these sheets for you to photocopy for your students, along with the answer sheet which you can follow up when you return to camp/school.

Full Risk Management Plans are available once you have made your booking.

"After returning from a great Year 7/8 camp at Hanmer Springs, we were fortunate to spend time at Wai ariki Nature Park. The visit involved being informed about the animals in a very informative and amusing way, feeding the animals and using a quiz sheet. Most animals fed out of our hands. Animals include yak, long horn cattle, emu, alpaca, llama, sheep, pigs, deer, eels. We can provide a pre-planned class lunch, although you are welcome to bring your own lunch or morning/afternoon tea and eat it inside in the Farm Show seating area.

Tour Groups to Hanmer Springs

Bring your group for an interesting and memorable visit. We are only a few minutes drive from the

Thermal Pools. Perfect for a day's outing with a difference! We host sports groups, Senior Citizens Groups, family groups and Clubs.

Bring your group for a leisurely walk around the Farm Park.

You are able to get up close and hand feed the animals who are all very friendly, or book for a Farm Show. The one 1 hour Farm Show is both informative and amusing. You will learn interesting facts about different farm animals; and see a variety of demonstrations (eg. Shearing in season; stock whips; dog trial etc).
